De-notification of Special Economic Zone at Hinjawadi, Pune.

Wipro Limited initially proposed to establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology and IT Enabled Services on a 9.15-hectare site in Hinjawadi, Pune, Maharashtra, under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The Central Government had notified this SEZ area on September 11, 2017. However, Wipro Limited has now requested to de-notify the entire 9.15-hectare area. The Maharashtra State Government has provided a No Objection Certificate for this de-notification, indicating that the land will be repurposed for infrastructure development in line with state land use guidelines. The Development Commissioner of SEEPZ SEZ has endorsed the de-notification proposal. Consequently, the Central Government has rescinded the original notification, effective immediately, except for any actions already taken prior to this decision.
