In the matter of ram Surat vs The State of Chhattisgarh, the Appellant, who had served over 15 years of actual imprisonment with a 20-year remission, was permitted by the court on 8th November, 2021, to seek consideration for premature release under the state's remission policy. Subsequently, the jail Superintendent confirmed that the Appellant was released on 18th January, 2022. As a result, the appeal has been deemed moot and dismissed.
