A Bombay High Court judgement has reignited a shooting investigation in Pune, India. The case involves Mr. Raviraj Taware, who was shot and alleges Chikoo Patil (Jaydeep Taware) played a role in a conspiracy against him.
Following the incident, police investigated and cleared Jaydeep Taware of any involvement. However, the trial court disagreed with the police report. Citing witness statements, the court ordered further investigation, directing a deeper look into the case.
Jaydeep Taware contested this order, arguing the court overstepped its bounds by instructing the police to file a charge sheet. The court, however, maintained that further investigation was necessary.
More significantly, the court granted a petition filed by Mr. Taware's wife. The petition expressed concerns about the impartiality of the original investigation and requested the case be transferred to a different agency. The court agreed, directing the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to take over the probe.
The CID will appoint a senior officer, at least a Superintendent of Police rank, to lead the investigation. This officer is instructed to consider the observations made by the trial court and the Bombay High Court itself throughout the case. Additionally, they are directed to investigate the potential involvement of one Mr. Ravindra Kale, as alleged by the petitioners.
The High Court's decision highlights the importance of a thorough and unbiased investigation. By transferring the case to the CID, the court aims to ensure all avenues are explored and justice is served in this complex case.
