The Central Government has declared the "Ajanta Caves Rail Connectivity from Jalna to Jalgaon (174 Kms)" railway project as a Special Railway Project under The Railways Act, 1989. This notification, effective from its publication date in the Official Gazette, authorizes land acquisition in Jalgaon, Aurangabad, and Jalna districts of Maharashtra to support national infrastructure development for public benefit.
