Central Government Rescinds Notification for Special Economic Zone De-Notification in Maharashtra.

12 September 2024
M/s. Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation Limited proposed establishing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the engineering sector in Survadi and Nandal, Taluka Phaltan, District Satara, Maharashtra, under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The Central Government initially notified an area of 101.25 hectares but later de-notified 48.1695 hectares. M/s. Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation Limited has now requested the de-notification of an additional 53.0805 hectares. The State Government of Maharashtra has issued a No Objection Certificate for this proposal, indicating that the de-notified land will be used for infrastructure development consistent with the SEZ's original objectives and state land use guidelines. The Development Commissioner of SEEPZ Special Economic Zone has recommended this proposal. Consequently, the Central Government is rescinding the earlier notification, effective except for actions already taken.
