High Court of Karnataka has granted anticipatory bail to a woman accused of abetting suicide. The woman, identified as accused No.2 in Crime No.127/2024, was facing charges under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for abetment to suicide.

The Petitioner, through her lawyer, argued that she is innocent and was falsely implicated in the case. The deceased's husband, who lodged the FIR, alleged he found a death note mentioning the Petitioner. However, the Petitioner's lawyer argued the death note lacked specific accusations against her and the delay in filing the FIR raised doubts.

The prosecution argued that the investigation is ongoing and the Petitioner might abscond or tamper with evidence if granted bail.

The court, after considering the arguments, noted that while the investigation continues, the Petitioner's custodial interrogation wasn't necessary at this stage. To address the prosecution's concerns, the court imposed conditions on the bail.

Bail Conditions:

  • The Petitioner must furnish a bond of Rs.2,00,000 with two sureties.
  • She is prohibited from committing similar offences.
  • She is required to appear before the investigating officer or court whenever directed.
  • She cannot threaten or tamper with witnesses in the case.

The court order allows the Petitioner to be released on bail if arrested in connection with Crime No.127/2024.
