The Central Government has designated several areas in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as air pollution control zones. This decision, based on the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and related rules, follows the delegation of authority to a local committee. The notification, effective from its publication date, lists 20 specific areas under this designation to implement pollution control measures.
