Bhubaneswar, 16th July 2024 - The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint before the Hon'ble Special Court (PMLA) in Khorda, Bhubaneswar, against Anand Kumar Agarwal, Basant Kumar Das and others for illegal mining and money laundering.

The complaint alleges that between 2005 and 2009, Basant Kumar Das and his associates engaged in illegal mining operations amounting to Rs. 21.60 Crore at Kasiabeda Iron Ore Mines, Odisha. The charges are based on an FIR and Charge-sheet from the Vigilance Department of Odisha Police.

On 18th May 2024, the ED arrested Anand Kumar Agarwal, Director of M/s Siddharth Sponge & Power Pvt. Ltd., for his role in the illegal mining and laundering of the proceeds, in collaboration with Basant Kumar Das and Pratap Kumar Das of M/s Jai Jagannath Mover Pvt. Ltd.
