ED Files Supplementary Complaint in Lalu Prasad Yadav's Land for Job Scam.
27 September 2024
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a Supplementary Prosecution Complaint against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and others in connection with the Land for Job Scam. The complaint, submitted on August 6, 2024, alleges that during his tenure from 2004 to 2009, Yadav facilitated jobs in Indian Railways in exchange for land sold at nominal prices. This led to the registration of a FIR by the CBI, which has filed five charge sheets so far. The Special Court took cognizance of the complaint on September 18, 2024, scheduling a hearing for October 7, 2024.
Previously, the ED filed a complaint against several family members of Yadav on January 8, 2024, involving the acquisition of land from candidates who were appointed as Group D substitutes. The ED's investigations have included significant cash seizures and the attachment of properties valued at over Rs. 6 Crore. The agency also arrested Lalu Yadav's close associate, Amit Katyal, in November 2023 for his role in the money laundering activities. Ongoing investigations continue to explore the case further.
