ED Raids Govardhan Mines and Minerals Over Illegal Mining Allegations.

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has conducted sweeping raids across multiple locations in Haryana, targeting associates of M/s. Govardhan Mines and Minerals under the PMLA, 2002. These actions stem from a complaint by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and FIRs filed by the Haryana Police, alleging severe violations of environmental laws and IPC sections.

During the raids, ED seized incriminating documents, digital devices, Rs. 5 lakh in cash, and a BMW worth Rs. 1.50 crore. They also froze a firm bank account holding Rs. 41 lakh. The investigation revealed extensive illegal mining in Dadam, Haryana, causing environmental damage and financial losses to the state, with illicit proceeds estimated at Rs. 56 crore.

Earlier actions in August 2023 resulted in the seizure of documents, jewellery worth Rs. 3.7 crore, cash of Rs. 26.45 lakh, and a Mercedes valued at Rs. 1 crore. Vedpal Singh Tanwar, a key figure, has been arrested. The ED emphasizes ongoing investigation into this case, signalling broader legal and environmental ramification.
