Extended Disturbance: Nagaland Declared 'Disturbed Area' for Six More Months.

The Central Government has declared eight districts and several police station areas in Nagaland as ‘disturbed areas’ under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, effective October 1, 2024, for six months. This decision follows a review of the law and order situation, continuing the designation initially set in a prior notification from March 2024. The affected districts include Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, and Peren, along with specific police station jurisdictions in Kohima, Mokokchung, Longleng, Wokha, and Zunheboto.
