The Central Government has declared the transport industry (excluding railways) for passenger and goods carriage by land or water as a public utility service for six months starting from November 25, 2023. This declaration follows a previous notification and is made under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, to serve public interest. The declaration is effective from the date it is published in the Official Gazette.
