A court order issued today granted a cost waiver to a Petitioner who had been previously ordered to pay Rs. 75,000. The case, CRL.M.A. 15551/2024, involved a Petitioner who faced consequences for filing a writ petition with arguments that contradicted factual evidence and presented legally unsustainable positions.
The court initially imposed the cost as a measure to encourage "a certain course correction." However, in a new development, the Petitioner tendered an unconditional apology and expressed newfound understanding of the legal system. The Petitioner's lawyer further emphasized financial hardship, stating the Petitioner is a student and relies on parents for support.
Considering the apology and financial constraints, the court waived the Rs. 75,000 cost. The order includes a condition: if the Petitioner or associated parties initiate new legal proceedings in any court, they must attach copies of both the original judgment (dated April 22nd, 2024) and this cost waiver order.
