The President, acting under the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, has directed that the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh will now be responsible for making all appointments to Group 'A' General Civil Service posts within the Ladakh Administration.

There's one important exception: appointments to the positions of Chief Secretary, Ladakh, and Director General of Police, Union Territory of Ladakh, will still require the prior approval of the Central Government.
