On August 2, 2024, new provisions of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985 will apply to several universities and institutions in Jammu and Kashmir. These include the Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Kashmir, University of Jammu, Cluster Universities of Srinagar and Jammu, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (Kashmir and Jammu), Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, and the Islamic University of Science and Technology. This change updates the previous notification issued on May 2, 1986.
