Notification of Land Acquisition for Mumbai - Vadodara Expressway Expansion: Gazette Publication and Details.

On August 21, 2023, the Government of India issued notification S.O. NO. 3733 (E) concerning the acquisition of land for the expansion and maintenance of the Mumbai - Vadodara Expressway Spur to NH-NE 4 in Maharashtra. This notification, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), was issued under the National Highway Act, 1956.
The Central Government declared its intention to acquire the specified land from Km. 58.820 to Km. 74.195 in the district of Thane, Maharashtra. The notification was also published in “Lokmat” (Marathi) and “The Free Press Journal” (English) on September 6, 2023.
Objections filed under Section 3-C were reviewed and resolved by the Competent Authority. Following this, the Central Government received and considered the Competent Authority's report and decided to proceed with the land acquisition. The land, described in the Schedule, will now be vested in the Central Government free from encumbrances.
The Schedule details the land to be acquired, including various plots of agricultural land in villages such as Bhoj, Khuntavali, Bendshil, Yeranjad, and Badlapur, with a total area of 1.8167 hectares. The landowners include individuals with names like Nandan Rama Gotarne, Vishwas Yashwant Jamghare, and others.
