The Central Government, using its authority under Clause (37A) of Section 2 of the Railways Act, 1989, has declared the "Extension of Naupada-Gunupur New Line up to Theruvali (73.623 Km) on Waltair Division of East Coast Railway" as a special railway project. This notification, which is effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, pertains to the state of Odisha.
