Retired Teacher's Promotion Dispute Ends in Karnataka High Court, Salary Grants Restored.

The Karnataka High Court has disposed of three writ petitions concerning a promotion dispute at M/s Vidyavardhaka Sangha, a Pre-University College. The petitions involved Champaka N, Siddaiah (teachers), and the College itself. The crux of the dispute was the promotion to Principal and the withholding of salary grants by the Department of Pre-University Education.

Here's a breakdown of the court's order:

  • Promotions to be Considered: The Court directed the Director of the Department (common respondent) to evaluate the College's recommendations for promotion for both Champaka N and Siddaiah. These promotions will be considered from their respective dates. The Department has 8 weeks to make a decision after receiving a certified copy of the court order.
  • Champaka N Retired: While the court ordered consideration of promotions, it acknowledged that Champaka N has retired.
  • Salary Grants to Resume: The Court also directed the Department to reinstate the salary grants withheld from the College within two weeks of receiving the court order. The College can submit a certified copy to expedite the process.

This order effectively resolves the promotion dispute and ensures the release of withheld salary grants.
