Right to appeal meaningless?

Bail and Antcipatory Bail >> Criminal Law | Murder Homicide >> Criminal Law
This case involves an appeal to the Supreme Court of India regarding a bail denial. Krishnakant Tamrakar was convicted for murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. He appealed to the High Court of Madhya Pradesh for bail while his appeal against the conviction was pending, but was denied.
The Supreme Court granted leave to appeal the High Court's decision. The main argument in the appeal is that Tamrakar has already been in custody for more than ten years and that if he has to serve the entire sentence before his appeal is heard, the right to appeal becomes meaningless.
