Rules for Issuing Commemorative Coin for Diamond Jubilee of Official Language.

The Central Government, acting under the Coinage Act, 2011, has released regulations for the issue of a special commemorative coin to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee Year of the Official Language in 2024.

Title and Commencement:

These are referred to as the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Year of Official Language) Rules, 2024, and shall be effective from the date of notification in the Official Gazette.

 

 

Denomination:

Rs. 75 denomination coin shall be issued and struck under official authority only for this commemoration.

Design and Features:

Shape and Size: Round, diameter 44 mm and 200 serrations.
Composition: Quaternary alloy — 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc.

Obverse Side:

Central motif: Lion Capital of Ashoka with "SatyaMeva Jayate"
"Bharat" (Devanagari) and "INDIA" (English) on opposite peripheries.
The Rupee symbol followed by the denomination "75"
Upper periphery: "Diamond Jubilee Year of the Official Language" in Devanagari.
Lower periphery: "DIAMOND JUBILEE YEAR OF OFFICIAL LANGUAGE" in English.
Under the picture of a tree: caption "14 September" in Devanagari with years "1949-2024" in numerals.

Weight and Tolerance:

Norm: 35 grams.

Allowable variation:

Silver content can range from 498 to 502 parts per 1000.
Variation in weight can be from 34.65 g to 35.35 g.
This special coin is therefore a legally approved issue with specific detail in terms of denomination, design, weight, metal content, and acceptable variations, namely to celebrate the linguistic legacy of India on the 75th anniversary of adoption of Hindi as the official language
