The Supreme Court in the matter of Jatinder Kumar Sapra Vs Anupama Sapra has dismissed a miscellaneous application seeking to include arrears from a pending maintenance case into a previously awarded lump sum alimony of Rs. 50 lakhs. 

The Court clarified that its prior judgment, which granted a divorce based on irretrievable breakdown and awarded the alimony, represented a full and final settlement of all disputes between the former spouses, including maintenance. Consequently, the pending maintenance case in the Family Court, Dwarka, is closed, and any arrears are not to be added to the settled alimony. The Court emphasized that no further claims regarding maintenance are permissible.
