In a special leave petition filed by Bonthu Kotaiah against maintenance orders, the Supreme Court condoned a 62-day delay in filing but declined to interfere on merits. The Family Court had directed payment of Rs. 50,000 per month towards maintenance for the wife and two children, which the High Court, through an interim order in a pending criminal revision, reduced to Rs. 30,000 per month.
Observing that the revision petition is still pending before the High Court, the Supreme Court dismissed the SLP, leaving it open to the petitioner to pursue a final decision there. All pending applications were disposed of.
