Supreme Court Grants Interim Bail to Life Convict Pushpendra Kumar Due to Son’s Illness.
04 September 2025
In Criminal Appeal No. 805/2018, Pushpendra Kumar, convicted under Sections 302 and 304 IPC and serving a life sentence, sought interim bail citing the relapse of his son’s bone cancer requiring his personal care. While noting that he had previously been granted interim bail for similar reasons, the Supreme Court accepted the request on humanitarian grounds.
The Court directed his release on interim bail subject to conditions set by the trial court, with a mandate to surrender before jail authorities by 30 November 2025 and file proof of surrender within one week thereafter. The interim bail application was accordingly disposed of.
