23 August 2024
The notification issued by the Government of India on May 6, 2024, under the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957, declares that certain lands have been transferred to the Central Government.
However, it has been decided that these lands, totaling approximately 315 hectares, will now be transferred to Western Coalfields Limited (the Government Company) as of May 6, 2024. The transfer is subject to several conditions:
1. The Government Company must cover all costs related to compensation, interest, damages, and legal expenses.
2. A Tribunal will be set up to determine payments due, and the Government Company will bear all associated costs.
3. The Government Company must indemnify the Central Government for any additional expenses related to legal proceedings concerning the land.
4. The land and its rights cannot be transferred to others without the Central Government’s prior approval.
5. The Government Company must follow any specific directions or conditions imposed by the Central Government.
